Welcome to the Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry Website

The Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry, a non-profit organization, plays a vital role in our community by providing emergency food assistance for those in need in Sun Prairie. It is one of the largest food pantries in Dane County and has been distributing food for over 15 years. Our motto of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" exemplifies the community's commitment through their generosity of providing essential items to those in need.

In 2007, the Pantry served 5,516 households of which included assisting 8,467 children. This averaged out to be 459 families receiving assistance each month. The total estimated pounds distributed in 2007 was an unbelievable 250,000 pounds!! Over the past 15 years, the Food Pantry has experienced significant increased usage and is appreciative and dependent on your continued support and generosity.

Take some time and look through our entire web site. You will find many tools here to help you make the connection with the Pantry as a recipient or as a volunteer of this great community resource.

Sun Praire Mobile Food Pantry

In August 2003, Second Harvest rolled out the Mobile Pantry Program. In partnership with a member agency, food from the Second Harvest warehouse is trucked to a neighborhood site at a prescheduled time for immediate distribution to residents. The program provides additional food to those in need and gives Second Harvest a valuable channel to increase distribution of perishable food items to ensure that good food will not go to waste. The Mobile Pantry increased its distribution 42% to over 1 million pounds of food last year and is serving hundreds of people with each scheduled visit.

Please check back to see when the next Mobile Pantry will be held.

Sunshine Place & Stark Company Realtors 1 to 100 Anniversary Celebration

The Sunshine Place and Stark Company Realtors came together on Saturday, April 19 as part of the "1 to 100 Anniversary Celebration" held at the Sunshine Place. As the day went on, it was clear to see that the sun was was indeed shining at the Sunshine Place. It was a party atmosphere with food, refreshments and great commradeship. The celebration culminated with the community rallying in support of the Boy Scouts "Scouting for Food" drive on behalf of the Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry. Food and monetary donations received as part of the food drive totaled approximately 14,800 pounds of food!

If you were unable to attend, you can still help to reach the goal of raising a total of 18,000 pounds of food for this compaign by your financial contribution. Each dollar donated will equal a pound of food. Donations can be made on-line, via mail or at the Food Pantry.
